Michael Rimmer finished sixth in a tough semi final at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow last night.

‘It was a tough one. I might have gone out a bit too hard. I found myself in a couple of not terrible positions and in the 800m you need it to be a smooth as possible, but there were two surges which knocked my legs out for six really.’ Said Michael who had stormed through the heats with a fine race.

‘I’m in the best shape of my life but I’m just not quite there. It’s frustrating but I’ve just got to take it on the chin.’

‘I think that heat was a bit of a surprise really. You don’t know what you’re going to get, it’s a toss of the coin sometimes, but I’m going to take it on the chin. Those guys are just better at this moment in time. I’ve just got to accept that and work hard.’
